Close the
loop.

ZeigFX is a behavioral project completion tool built on the Zeigarnik Effect — your brain's natural tendency to keep unfinished work in active memory. We turned that tension into a system.

The Science

The Zeigarnik Effect

In 1927, Soviet psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik discovered something counterintuitive: we remember incomplete tasks far better than completed ones. An open loop doesn't just sit in memory — it actively demands cognitive resources until it's resolved.

Zeigarnik observed this effect while watching waiters in a Viennese café. The staff could recall every detail of unpaid orders with precision — but the moment a bill was settled, the memory vanished almost immediately. The completion itself was the signal to release the information.

The underlying mechanism is cognitive tension: your brain treats an unfinished task as an open file, keeping it partially loaded in working memory. This creates a low-level, persistent mental pull — the feeling that something is "hanging." It's not pleasant, but it's useful.

Most productivity tools fight this tension. They try to organize it away, schedule it, or suppress it with notifications. ZeigFX does the opposite. It surfaces the open loop deliberately, channels the tension into focused action, and only releases it when the work is genuinely done — verified by your own written reflection and AI review.

The result is a system that works with your brain's natural wiring instead of against it.

Studies suggest people remember interrupted tasks up to 90% better than completed ones. ZeigFX uses that recall advantage to keep your real priorities visible — not buried in a list you forgot to check.

Loop Open — Task incomplete
Working memory holds the task in active queue. Intrusive thoughts and mental pull are high. Focus is divided.
↓ ZeigFX surfaces the task, you work on it

Completion ritual — You reflect
Written note + optional photo evidence signals deliberate, conscious closure. AI challenges vague entries.
↓ AI approves completion
Loop Closed — Task released
Working memory releases the task. Cognitive tension resolves. The next task becomes the focus.
How ZeigFX Works

Behavioral design,
not just reminders

Every feature in ZeigFX is built around one goal: making it easier to finish what you started than to abandon it. Here's how.

🎯
Execution Mode

When you open a committed project, your current task surfaces immediately. No dashboard, no distraction — just the work that's waiting for you. The loop demands your attention.

🤖
AI Completion Review

Powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash. When you submit a task completion note, the AI reads it and challenges anything vague or unconvincing. You can't close a loop by writing "done."

📸
Photo Evidence

Attach photos to your completion. The AI reviews visual evidence alongside your written note — useful for physical projects, installations, or anything where "done" should be visible.

🔀
Loop Gate

New ideas mid-project? Loop Gate intercepts them before they become scope creep. Classify each one as Essential, Enhancement, or Out of Scope — and get back to work.

🔔
Decay Alerts

Firebase push notifications track how long your active loop has been idle. As inactivity grows, alerts increase. An open loop left cold isn't forgotten — it's flagged.

🚧
Intentional Friction

Pausing or abandoning a project isn't a one-tap action. You'll write a reason. You'll commit to a return date. Abandonment requires a full reflection entry. Quitting should cost something.

Getting Started

Choose your path

ZeigFX starts with a question: are you trying to finish something you've already started, or commit to something new? Your answer shapes how the app sets you up for success.

Path A

The Finisher

You have projects stuck in limbo. Things you started with energy, then lost momentum on. The Finisher path is built for you. ZeigFX assesses the viability of each stalled project before you commit.

  • Viability threshold check — is this project worth restarting?
  • Scope review to trim what's no longer relevant
  • Structured re-entry with a concrete first task
  • Tracks your completion rate to build accountability over time
Path B

The Launcher

You have a new idea and you're ready to commit to it. The Launcher path builds discipline from day one with a risk profile and a structured task breakdown before you write a single line of code — or anything else.

  • Risk profile assessment — is this project realistic given your bandwidth?
  • Commitment checkpoint before the project activates
  • Broken into milestones and daily executable tasks
  • Momentum tracking from your very first completed task
The Daily Rhythm

One loop.
Every day.

ZeigFX is built around a simple daily ritual. Not a complex productivity system — just a consistent pattern of deliberate work and real closure.

1

Open ZeigFX

Your active project is waiting. Execution Mode surfaces the current task immediately — no inbox, no dashboard clutter to navigate through first. The loop is already open.

2

Do the work

Complete the task at hand. ZeigFX doesn't track how you work — just that you did. The tension of the open loop is yours to convert into progress.

3

Write a real note

When you're done, write a completion note with enough detail to prove it. Minimum character requirement enforced. "Done" doesn't cut it. What did you actually complete? What changed?

4

Let AI review it

Gemini reads your note — and optionally your photos — and decides if it's convincing. If it's vague, you'll be pushed to elaborate. Once approved, the task is marked complete and the next one surfaces.

5

Classify what came up

If any new ideas or scope changes surfaced during your work, pass them through Loop Gate before you close the app. Essential, Enhancement, or Out of Scope — each gets filed appropriately.

6

Close the app

You're done for today. Don't start a new project. Don't add more tasks. The loop is handled. The work was real. Tomorrow, the next task will be waiting.
